GALE Vertical Axis Wind Turbines
We are an exclusive Midwest and Rocky Mountain Distributor of the GALE™ line of vertical axis wind turbines through our industry partner Tangarie Alternative Power.
The Helical Savonius design of wind turbines has a long history of low maintenance and long life operation in the harshest of environments. The innovative engineering incorporated into the design of the GALE™ turbines have resulted in a line of turbines that produce more energy than any other helical savonius turbine on the market.
The benefits of the GALE™ turbine include:
- Low cut-in speed of 1.5 to 2 M/S (3.4 to 4.5 mph, varies with size of unit)
- Low maintenance–Permanently sealed greaseless bearings
- Wildlife friendly–Wildlife perceives it as a solid object so is less likely to fly into it
- Quiet operation–produces <50db at 12 meters
- Vertical axis–unaffected by wind direction or turbulence
- Aesthetically unobtrusive–lends itself to architecturally pleasing integration
- High wind operation–power production to 120 mph
- Does not collect nor throw ice
- May be pole mounted or roof mounted (pole mount recommended)
- Incorporates well into an urban environment
- Optional coloring and logos may be set to customer specification
Typically the GALE™ wind turbine system is grid-tied to the utility through your electrical panel. The GALE™ turbines produce 3 phase variable AC which is converted to DC power with a wind interface box, and then into useable AC power with an inverter. A stand alone battery system or a combination of a grid-tie system with battery backup is also possible.
A Hybrid system of wind and solar can also be implemented to increase year-round energy production from renewables.
