In addition, Bright Idea Energy Solutions can offer you energy management solutions for hotels and other commercial facilities through the products offered by Energex. This intelligent management system monitors whether a room is occupied or not, and adjusts the heating and cooling system accordingly. Lights and TV sets can also be controlled.

Total system components are simple to install and result in little down time to the facility (less than 20 minutes per room). A passive infrared occupancy sensor is installed in each room. A small energy management unit is installed near the room thermostat. Connected by low voltage wiring, the complete system lets each hotel guest program their own room temperature.

After a guest leaves a room for more than 30 minutes, the last selected room temperature is held only 12 minutes per hour. This results in energy savings of 35–40%, yet also enables the room to return to the guest's prefered temperature easily upon return to the room. Return on Investment is usually within 1 year.

Besides minimizing energy waste, the Energex system enhances hotel security. The web-based system can be used to monitor room status in case of emergency evacuations, room cleaning by housekeeping, and detection of unauthorized occupancies.
